About us

The Norwegian Seafood Council is a marketing communications organisation working together with the Norwegian seafood industry to increase the value of Norwegian seafood in new and established markets all over the world.

The Norwegian Seafood Council is a public company owned by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Fisheries, and is financed through fees levied on all exports of Norwegian seafood. The company is headquartered in Tromsø, Norway, and has 13 offices abroad.

The organization’s 70 employees do this through the following areas of core competencies: market access, market insight, marketing, PR and reputational issues management.

We have a presence in 13 countries and invest in over 20 countries worldwide.

We are a part of Team Norway and are co-located together with the foreign services and/or Innovation Norway. Our Country Directors has diplomatic status.

We have a close collaboration with local PR- and media agencies who contributes with valuable first-hand knowledge about the markets where we invest.

Our headquarters is in Tromsø, Norway, where around 50 people works, supporting our global efforts, as well as the seafood industry. We have between 7 to 9 trainees and apprentices as well.

The most important segments of the seafood industry are represented in the advisory groups, who ensures that our investments are aligned with the industry’s needs.

The “Seafood from Norway” brand promotes Norwegian seafood in international markets. This mark is our guarantee to consumers of Norwegian origin.

We contribute to the industry’s and individual exporter’s efforts, helping them to reach their goals by increasing the knowledge and preferences of seafood from Norway.
